Junior Underwriter
Position Description:
The Junior Underwriter reviews all incoming credit applications to determine eligibility and credit quality. They will work hand-in-hand with Senior Underwriters and Portfolio Managers to mitigate portfolio risk and increase scale.
Responsibilities:
Determine the ability of the merchant to repay financing based on detailed financial analysis on the small business, including trend and ratio analysis, and interpret the financial information to determine credit quality.
Provide approval and pricing recommendations for Senior Underwriters
Communicate decisions effectively in both verbal and written communication
Perform other due diligence as needed to determine the creditworthiness of a small business owner.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field
1+ years experience working in Financial Services, FinTech, or Consulting
Strong analytical skills, experience reviewing financial documents such as Profit & Loss statements is a plus.
Office proficiency (particularly Excel)
Team player with strong interpersonal capabilities
Strong verbal and written communication
